Joint-Stock Energy and Electrification Company Samaraenergo is a large power supply company of Central Volga Region, serving approximately 89% of total electric power demand of Samara Region.
Samaraenergo’s mission is to provide reliable supplies of electric power in Samara Region for the Region’s social and economic development.
Since day one OJSC Samaraenergo has gained renown for its work among citizens of Samara and Samara Region. For more than 70 years Samaraenergo has supplied electric power to customers of Samara Region, thus maintaining the Region’s prosperity. And today, as an electric power provider, OJSC Samaraenergo is the main enterprise which guarantees energy supplies within Samara Region.
The company has changed its goals and objectives since the national power industry is being restructured. The modernized Samaraenergo has become a reliable vehicle for its subscribers, ensuring stable connections between participants in the wholesale and in the retail electric power markets.
At present OJSC Samaraenergo’s operation mainly includes purchasing of electric power on the wholesale market (New Wholesale Electrical Energy Market), and supplying it to Samara Region retail market under energy supply agreements and sales contracts.
The Open Joint-Stock Energy and Electrification Company Samaraenergo purchases electric power and capacity on the wholesale market in order to supply it to consumers throughout Samara Region covered by OJSC Samaraenergo operations.
The major customers of OJSC Samaraenergo are companies from chemical, petrochemical, oil processing, metallurgical and mechanical engineering industries, railway and pipeline transportation industry, and from oil production and construction materials manufacturing industries.
OJSC Samaraenergo was one of the first power supply companies to be awarded the status of a “guaranteed supplier” in Samara Region. OJSC Samaraenergo was included in the federal information register of guaranteed supply companies on May 21 2007 by Order ¹103-e of the Federal Customs Service, under registration number 63/01.
OJSC Samaraenergo is a licensed vendor of electric power to citizens (license no. PE-00-007128 (e) of 12.04.2007).
OJSC Samaraenergo sells, installs, and repairs electric power meters of all types. In September of 2008 the company offering and installing dual-rate electric power meters programmed to calculate electric power for time zones, i.e.: “day/ night”.

Archive Transcript of OJSC Samaraenergo (1932-2006)
- 1932 – By order of Glavenergo Main Division of USSR Economy ¹504 of 29 December 1932 the Middle-Volga regional energy division was transformed into the Energokombinat group of Samara energy enterprises.
- 1935 – Samara Energokombinat is renamed Kuibyshev group of energy enterprises.
- 1941 – Kuibyshev group of energy enterprises is re-organized as Kuibyshevenergo regional energy division of Kuibyshev.
- 1988 – Kuibyshevenergo production association of power and electrification of Kuibyshev was founded on the basis of the subordinate enterprises of Kuibyshevenergo regional energy division.
- 1991 – Kuibyshevenergo production association of power and electrification of Kuibyshev was renamed Samaraenergo production association of power and electrification of Samara (by Order of Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of RSFSR of 25 January 1991, “On the renaming of the City of Kuibyshev as the City of Samara and the Kuibyshev Region as the Samara Region”.
- 1993 – completion of work on the reorganization of Samaraenergo production association of power and electrification of Samara as Samaraenergo Joint-Stock Company. Plan for the privatization of Samaraenergo Open Joint Stock Company was approved.
- 1996 – Samaraenergo Open-Joint Stock Company is renamed Open Joint-Stock Energy and Electrification Company Samaraenergo.
- On 30 September 2005, at the second stage of reformation an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of OJSC Samaraenergo was held, which passed a decision to reorganize through a spin-off of the following: Samara Territorial Generation Company, with the shares of OJSC Volga Territorial Generation Company transferred to its balance-sheet; OJSC Samara Distribution Company, with the shares of OJSC Volga Inter-regional Distribution Company transferred to its balance-sheet; Samara Main Line Company, with the property of the main network system of OJSC Samaraenergo transferred to its balance-sheet. The shareholders’ meeting also took a decision about terms and conditions, procedure for spin-off and procedure for conversion of OJSC Samaraenergo shares into shares of the spin-off companies, and approved the spin-off balance sheet.
After the spin-off energy sale assets will remain on the books of OJSC Samaraenergo, and as of 01 April 2006 the sale of electric power will be OJSC Samaraenergo’s main activity.
